GITAM Institute of Nursing is located in the main campus of GITAM (Deemed to be University), Visakhapatnam. It was established to provide quality education in nursing to meet the ever growing demand for competent nurses in the country. The B. Sc. Nursing program has been offered, with permission from the Indian Nursing Council, UGC & MHRD, Govt. of India, from the academic year 2016-17. In the year 2017-18 M. Sc. Nursing –  Nurse Practitioner in Critical Care (NPCC) Post graduate Residency program  was started. GITAM is the only University offering NPCC program in AP & Telangana States, approved by Govt of India.
The Institute is endowed with state – of – the - art nursing laboratories such as Nutrition, Fundamentals of Nursing, Maternal and Child Health Nursing, Community Health Nursing, Computer lab, Preclinical Science Laboratory and Advanced Skills Lab for Simulator Learning. The Institute is provided with digital library, e-class rooms and wi-fi facility. Hostel accommodation is available for their comfortable stay and pursuit of education. The institute provides clinical learning to the students at the GITAM Multi-Specialty Hospital. The students will be exposed to community field experiences at primary health centers in urban and rural areas which facilitate enriched comprehensive health care services to the community. The institute provides dynamic nursing education, for today and tomorrow both for individuals and the global community at large.

It is committed to providing the students with a wide variety of opportunities in order to help them to attain their highest potential. Specially, M. Sc. Nurse Practitioner Critical Care Program is intended to prepare registered nurse practitioners to provide advanced nursing care to patients who are critically ill. On completion of the program and registration with the respective state council, they are permitted to independently administer drugs and order diagnostic tests, procedures, medical equipment and therapies as per institutional protocols.
