Introduction

Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (DIAT) is the premier engineering training institute under the Department of Defence Research & Development, Ministry of Defence, Government of India. DIAT (DU) is specialized in the training of officers of Defence Research Organizations, IOFS (Indian Ordnance Factories), Defence PSUs (Like Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, Bharat Electronics, Bharat Dynamics Limited), ship building agencies like Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers, Cochin and Goa Shipyards, Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders and armed forces of friendly countries (like Sri Lanka and Afghanistan,) and other central and state government agencies.

Admission Procedure

Institute of Armament Technology offers admission to students in various programs, in the fields of laser technology, computer science, applied chemistry, applied mathematics, technology management. The college offers more than 20 disciplines to choose from with slightly varying admission requirements for students.

  • June 02, 2022: DIAT is inviting applications for its Master of Science (by Research) Program for the July 2022 batch. The last date to apply is June 15, 2022. 

Defense Institute of Advanced Technology (DIAT) Eligibility criteria

The students who are willing to get admission in the DIAT should know about the eligibility of the DIAT. The Institute offers the students to get admission in the M.Tech. The eligibility criteria of the DIAT for the M.Tech course is given below.

Eligibility criteria

Educational Eligibility

 

The students who need admission in the DIAT should have qualified their B.Tech with an aggregate of at least 55% or with a CGPA of 5.5/10

The students who had qualified their M.Sc and scored a valid qualifying mark in the GATE exam may also get admission in the DIAT 

Age eligibility

The students should not be more than 26 years old as on July 1st of the year of admission

Nationality Eligibility

The students should be an Indian

Application Process

The students who are willing to get admission in the DIAT should know about the application process of the Institute. The application process for the admission in the DIAT under the M.Tech course is given below.

The application process can be done by both online and offline.

Online Application process

  • The students should visit the official website of the DIAT (http://diat.ac.in/)
  • The students should fill the application form with correct details.
  • After the application form is filled with correct details, the students should payment fee.
  • The payment fee for General category students is Rs. 500 and for Reserved category is Rs. 250 
  • The payment fee can be paid by Credit/Debit card or by Net Banking.
  • After the payment fee is paid, the students should take a print out of the acknowledgement form.
  • The students should send the application acknowledgement form along with the online payment confirmation form and the photocopy of the certificates and mark sheets to the address :

Admission Process

The students who are willing to get admission in the DIAT must aware of the admission process of the Institute. The university conducts an admission process for the students who need admission in DIAT under the M.Tech course. The admission process of the DIAT is mainly based on the student's score in GATE examination.

 Admission process for scholarship category

The admission will be done through Research & Training (R&T) and Postgraduate Training (PGT) schemes for DRDO and Tri-service officers including Coast Guard respectively. These admissions shall be operated jointly by DIAT and RAC/DRDO (through DHRD/DRDO)

Admission process for MOD (Services & DRDO) Sponsored Category 

 The admission will be done through Research & Training (R&T) and Postgraduate Training (PGT) schemes for DRDO and Tri-service officers including Coast Guard respectively. These admissions shall be operated jointly by DIAT and RAC/DRDO (through DHRD/DRDO)

 Admission process for General sponsored category students

 The student will get the admission with subject to meeting certain additional conditions, through a separate selection committee appointed specifically for the purpose. You are also exempted from qualifying GATE requirement

PLACEMENT CELL

The Placement Cell in the DIAT (DU) plays a vital role. As there are large numbers of Engineering colleges coming up in India, the competition for employment is increasing every day and the job of placement is becoming a challenging one. A full pledged placement cell is functioning in DIAT (DU) with a full time placement officer. The Placement cell is inviting various Government, Semi Government Organizations, Private and Public Sectors for campus recruitment. For placement a large number of prospective employers are contacted during the year and efforts are made to invite those companies to visit DIAT (DU) and conduct campus recruitments. The objective of the Placement Cell is to look for a 100% employment of all the students. The Cell is assisted by student placement coordinators who lead a team of placement representatives from various courses of study. The placement Cell ensures and takes care to provide the best arrangements and hospitality for the visiting companies' officials.

All Scholarship category students are eligible for scholarship under DBT scheme of AICTE during the M. Tech. Course (Presently Rs.12, 400/- per month).

    Sponsored Students from Other Agencies/Organizations:-

    No Scholarship is provided to sponsored candidates of Other Agencies /Organizations.

    Scholarship Students:-

    All Scholarship category students are eligible for scholarship under DBT scheme of AICTE during the M. Tech. Course (Presently Rs.12, 400/- per month).
    Self Sponsored Students :-

    No Scholarship and No Financial support is provided to self sponsored students.

    SCHOLARSHIP FOR Ph. D. STUDENTS
    MoD Sponsored Students:-

    No Scholarship is provided to sponsored candidates of MOD.

    Sponsored Students from Other Agencies/Organizations:-

    No Scholarship is provided to sponsored candidates of Other Agencies /Organizations.

    Internal and External Part-time PhD students:-

    No Scholarship is provided to Internal & External Part-time PhD Students.

    Full-Time Students:-

    All Students, who are admitted to Ph D Program as full-time non-sponsored students (i.e. Scholarship Students), will be eligible for Scholarship, as per Institute Rules .

    OR

    They can also apply to UGC for JRF/SRF categories subject to meeting all eligibility criteria.

    Self Sponsored Students :-

    No Scholarship / No Financial support is provided to self sponsored Service students.
