About Us

Introduction

The National Institute of Food Technology, Entrepreneurship and Management - Thanjavur (NIFTEM-T) is a pioneer Research and Educational Institution under the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Government of India. Dr. V. Subrahmanyan. an eminent scientist and founder Director, Central Food Technological Research Institute, Mysore, after his retirement, started PPRC in 1967 as R & D laboratory in the Modern Rice Mill complex of Thanjavur Co-operative Marketing Federation (TCMF) at Tiruvarur, Tamil Nadu, India under the dedicated leadership and the able guidance of late. The mandate of the Institute at its inception was to seek solutions for preserving high moisture paddy because the paddy harvest season in Southern India coincided with the tail end of the South West monsoon. Admission Procedure

IIFPT Thanjavur offers three courses viz. four-year duration B.Tech course in Food Processing Engineering, M.Tech of two-year duration in two specializations, and Ph.D. program of three-year duration.

  • The college offers online mode of the application process to the candidates through official website of the college.
  • Candidates who have passed 10+2 examination in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics with minimum 45% marks are considered eligible to join B.Tech Course.
  • Admission to B.Tech program is done on the basis of JEE Main score.
  • The minimum eligibility of M.Tech admission is candidates must have completed BE or B.Tech in relevant discipline with at least 70% marks in aggregate.
  • Those who hold ME or M.Tech degree in any concerned discipline with minimum 70% marks are eligible to apply for admission to the Ph.D. program.
  • Candidates are selected for admission to M.Tech and the Ph.D. course on the basis of the applicant’s merit in the qualifying examination and marks obtained in the written test and interview round.

IIFPT Thanjavur B.Tech Admission 2023

Indian Institute of Food Processing Technology offers full time B.Tech course of four-year duration in Food Processing Engineering with the intake of 60 students.

Scholarship

IICPT offers Graduate Research Assistantships (GRA) for eligible M. Tech students of Rs.16000/- per month and Doctoral Research Assistantships (DRA) for eligible Ph. D students
of Rs.24000/- per month depending on the funds available in the R&D funded projects.

Eligible candidates can apply and obtain the assistantships on a competitive basis. Our IICPT graduate students are winners of CSIR and other national fellowships. The following are the
