Welcome to Kasturba Nursing College, Sevagram. The Kasturba Health Society, Sevagram was setup by Dr. Sushila Nayar in the year 1964, which manages Kasturba Nursing College. Currently, the college conducts Basci B.Sc. Nursing, Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing and M.Sc. Nursing courses in various specialties and has a total strength of 240 students.

Objectives
- Prepare graduate nurses to assume responsibilities as professional, for providing promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative services
- Make graduates to understand health needs and asses the heatlh resources of our country, so that they can innovate and transform the way of delivering high quality services, primarily the health needs within the resources available
- Prepare nurses who can make independent decisions in nursing situations, protect the rights, facilitate individuals and groups in pursuit of health, function in the hospital, community and conduct research studies in the areas of nursing practice
- Develop the qualities in the nurses so that they will effectively and efficiently play the role of teacher, supervisor and manger in a clinical/public health setting
- Prepare the graduates and postgraduates to assume first level positions in nursing profession, take up responsibilities such as nurse specialist consultants, educators and administrators in various professional settings.
Founder
Dr. Sushila Nayar
In 1944, Late Honorable Dr. Sushila Nayar (Ex. Union Health Minister, Founder President, Kasturba Health Society and Founder Director of Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences) was entrusted with the responsibility to control epidemics of cholera and malaria in and around Sevagram. In due course of time it, was felt that a dispensary was required to help the general patients of the villages and the same was started with a group of untrained workers in the surroundings of Gandhiji’s Ashram.
In 1973 Kasturba Nursing School was established by the Kasturba Health Society, Sevagram. General Nursing and Midwifery training course of three and half years duration was started. In the beginning, ten students were admitted every six months and from 1977, 20 students were admitted yearly. Presently the school admits 40 students every year.
The Kasturba Nursing College was started in the year 1997 in a spacious building constructed out of donation given by Urmiladevi Laxmiprasad Poddar. Foundation Stone of this building was laid by Late Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma, who was the Vice President of India in the year 1990 and he himself inaugurated the Nursing College building as the President of India in the year 1993.
