History
MARKS Medical College (MRMC) is considered as one of the best private medical colleges in Bangladesh. It was established in 2011 by Late Brig. General Prof. M. R, Khan an eminent ENT-Head & Neck Surgeon ofthe country and the founder member, whose vision for providing quality medical education, research and health care service to people of this country at reasonable cost.
The objectives of the Institute are
- To promote and provide studies in medical science leading to recognized graduate and postgraduate degrees.
- To conduct research work on the diseases prevalent in the country.
- To conduct research on medical education with the aim of raising the standard of medical education in the country.
- To provide skilled manpower in the medical field.
- To provide quality medical care and health services to people at reasonable cost
The idea of establishment of a medical college was imparting quality medical education leading to recognized medical degree, was taken as the first and foremost aim of the Institute. Through the tireless efforts of the Founder Member the dream has been realized against much odds when permission was granted by the Government of Bangladesh for establishment of the college on 2011.
MARKS Medical College started its functioning from 2011 and The Dhaka University granted affiliation to the College on 2011. Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council the highest regulatory body of Medical graduates has recognized the College. The college has a new 9 storied academic building worth spacious accommodation for all the departments and adequate parking facility.
The attached Hospital is a tertiary care referral medical facility and provides excellent training to students and junior doctors. The Hospital has arrangements for 350 inpatients. It is well equipped and provides quality healthcare to the public at reasonable cost. The entire hospital staff is dedicated to excellence and service.
BIOGRAPHY OF FOUNDER CHAIRMAN
The most sophisticated profession is the medical profession which can take a person to create deepest bonding to human society. The person who established this dignified profession in the form of human welfare, thought his relentless effort over a long period was Late Brigadier General Professor Dr. Muhammad Masudur Rahman Khan
Brigadier General Professor Dr. Muhammad Masudur Rahman Khan was a renowned ENT and Head Neck Surgeon and the founder chairman of The MARKS Group and the honorable founder principal of MARKS Medical College, which is one of the most prestigious and magnificent medical college in Bangladesh.
He was the pioneer in Micro Surgery in the health sector of Bangladesh. He was born in 28th January 1944 in a novel Muslim family at village kamlaur located at Sreepur upozila under Magura district.
His father Late Dr. Ebadat Ali Khan and mother Late Begum Rawshan Ara Khan. Dr. Masud is 2nd among his four brothers and three sisters.
He was blessed with two daughters and two sons. He was a teacher per excellence and inspiring leader and a true visionary. Muhammad Masudur Rahman Khan was meritorious from his childhood. He passed successfully matriculation from Dhaka Board in 1959 and Intermediate from Dhaka University in 1961. After passing the Intermediate degree, he gets himself admitted in Dhaka Medical College in the same year to serve the community.
He passed MBBS degree in 1967 and joined medical course under the Pakistan Army with one-year seniority upon being commissioned in January 1968. He graduated (MBBS) from Dhaka Medical College (1967) and awarded degree of FRCS from Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Glasgow (1980). He had also obtained D.L.O. on Otolaryngology (ENT) at 1975.
He had completed his pre-fellowship training and course in ENT and General Surgery at the institute of Laryngology and Otology, Royal National Ear Nose & Throat Hospital under the University of London and Royal College of Surgeons, England and Royal Marsden & Guy’s Hospital London from January 1980 to October 1980.
He had completed his post fellowship training in Otolaryngology, Microsurgery and Head & Neck Surgery at Royal Halifat Infirmary, UK from January 1981 to December 1981 under National Health Service, UK
Micro surgical training on temporal bond dissection (Middle Ear Surgery), Glasgow for one week, September 1981; Advanced training at Johns Hopkins University Hospital, USA on Endoscopic sinus surgery from July to October 1989.
He was also an examiner of MBBS course at Trivubon University in Nepal. He retired from service as Brigadier General in 2002 and he finished his professional career with huge achievements and reputation. In 2003, he was selected as†WHO IS WHO†by American Biographical Institute. In 2005, he was awarded “Gold Medal†for best achievement in health science.
He obtained “Lalon Shah Award†for Medical Science in 2010. This great leader died on 8th February 2012 due to colon cancer. He is no more with us but his inspiration will be always with us that will help us to work for the humanity.
