Introduction
In a bid to supplement the efforts of the West Bengal Government College and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) in expanding the infrastructure of technical education in this region it was contemplated in 2000 to establish an Engineering College for the benefit of students in West Bengal and also in the region. To give the idea a shape, St. Thomas' College of Engineering & Technology was established with the intention to impart quality technical education to the students and imbibe confidence into the young talents graduating from the institution to stand up to the challenges of life with confidence. To ensure this, a plan was made so that it could become a seat of excellence in due course of time. Based on this preamble, St. Thomas' College of Engineering & Technology at 4, Diamond Harbour Road, Kidderpore, Kolkata 700023, West Bengal came into being on 29th August 2000.----

Candidates seeking admission in B.Tech will be allotted seats on the basis of rank obtained in the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination and JEE Mains. The college has developed a transparent and efficient admission process for aspiring candidates in 2020. Candidates provisionally selected for admission in any program should appear before the Admission Committee with parents/guardians. Students are selected for counseling on the basis of merit at the qualifying examinations. Guardians other than a natural parent should have notarized authority from a parent. Students secured less than 60% marks in earlier examinations and are aged more than 21 years at the time of admission are warned that there may be less opportunity in getting campus placement. STCET admission, application forms, and information brochures are to be obtained from the college office and can also be downloaded from the college official website. The performance of past batches in campus recruitment does not confer any right or can be taken as a promise of employment for students seeking admission. All other details regarding admission to be had from the college office.

Students are requested to bring along with the following documents in original for verification and a set of xerox copies. Students need to log in from their verified account by google and then fill the necessary documents.

B.Tech Admission 2020
The institute presently runs four-year full-time Regular Bachelor of Technology courses in various courses such as Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Information Technology, Electronics & Communication. Online mode of application is allowed. Candidates can register and apply through WBJEE and JEE Mains website. 10+2 in Science stream with minimum 45% marks is required for B. Tech program admission. Only qualified candidates are eligible for B. Tech counseling and admission. The selection of candidates is done on the basis of marks/ rank secured by the applicant, which is followed by a counseling session conducted on a state level. A final merit list of the candidates is declared after the counseling process. The first preference is given to candidates qualifying 10+2 from West Bengal Secondary Education Board. Candidates applying under reserved categories must produce caste / any other relevant certificate.

The training and placement cell is functioning in the college for the benefit of the students. Though no guarantee can be given for the placement of all the students, efforts are made to familiarize them with the working in industries. They are trained to present themselves in a manner to suitably expose their potential to prospective employers. While it may not be possible to change their trait and attitude altogether, major thrust will be to provide a finishing touch to their skill and knowledge.
