Admission Procedure

UPES Dehradun admission 2023 is open for UG and PG courses. The last date to submit the UPES application form is April 25, 2023. The University of Petroleum and Energy Studies admission is based on CUET 2023 for the UG courses. The CUET UG 2023 exams are scheduled from May 21, 2023, to May 31, 2023. The CUET UG admit card is expected to release in the second week of May 2023.

UPES Latest Updates

• April 20, 2023: CMAT 2023 is to be held on May 4, 2023.
• April 20, 2023: UPES admission 2023 is open for both UG and PG courses. The last date to apply is April 25.
• April 20, 2023: CUET UG 2023 exam will be held from May 21-31, 2023.

UPESDAT [design entrance test] will be held on April 8-9, 2023. UPESEAT [B.Tech entrance exam], ULSAT [LLB entrance exam], UPESMET [BBA entrance exam], and UPESPAT [B.Pharma entrance exam] will be held between April 28-30, 2023.

UPES offers 16 UG, PG and PhD courses related to Engineering, Law, Business Management, Computer Application, Design. The accepted entrance exams for University of Petroleum and Energy Studies Dehradun admission are UPESEAT/ UPES-DAT/ ULSAT/ CAT/ CLAT/ CUET/ L-SAT/ UPESMET/ ULSAT-LLM.

For UPES admission 2023, candidates must have a valid score in the accepted entrance exams. The admission process involves GD/PI round to secure a seat in UPES. UPES PhD admission is based on a Research Entrance Test (RET) conducted by UPES, followed by a Personal Interview and Counselling.

Application Process 2023

UPES offers admission in various undergraduate, postgraduate, and Ph.D. courses. The candidates must fulfill the UPES Dehradun eligibility criteria to secure a seat in UPES. As per the UPES selection process, candidates must have a valid score in the entrance examinations, like UPESEAT/ UPES-DAT/ ULSAT/ CLAT/ L-SAT/ UPESMET/ ULSAT-LLM/ CUET. The UPES admission process for all the courses is done offline and online on the official website of UPES Dehradun. After completion of the admission formalities, candidates must deposit the required course fee as per the UPES fee structure.

Placements

University of Petroleum & Energy Studies (UPES), Dehradun is conducting its placement drive for the batch passing out in 2023. As per the latest report, over 250 recruiters participated and presented over 2,000 job offers to the class of 2023. Further, the highest and average package offered to School of Computer Science students during UPES placements 2023 stood at INR 36 LPA and INR 8.66 LPA, respectively. The top recruiters of UPES in 2023 included Autodesk India, Schlumberger, ONGC, Amazon, Adobe, Deloitte Microsoft, EY, KPMG, PwC, etc.

Placement Cell

The UPES placements and career guidance cell, popularly known as EDGE (Enhanced Development Growth and Enrichment Program), is active and dedicated to providing the best employment opportunities to its students. The EDGE organises various programs like guest lectures, live projects, and summer internships to enhance students' soft skills and prepare them for the final placements.

Constant activities like analytical writing, mock interviews, group discussions, and others are conducted by EDGE to give the students an insight into the corporate wants and enhance their personalities as future professionals. EDGE is driven and works hard to maintain the impeccable statistics of the UPES placements.

Placement Process

The UPES placements are conducted in a very systematic manner in multiple steps. The placement process of UPES Dehradun is given below.

• Organisations send in job/hiring requirements to the UPES placements cell, EDGE. Relevant details like job descriptions and salaries offered are sent in as well.
• These details are shared with the students, and the profiles of the students who match the requirements apply for the selection process. The details of the students are then shared with the companies.
• Companies visit the campus to give a pre-placement guest lecture, giving them an insight and better understanding of the role.
• Companies visit the campus on announced dates to conduct the selection process. 
• The recruiting organisation will make job offers for students who have cleared the selection process through the UPES placements cell.
• In case of an early joining, students can join in the last semester and write the final examinations on campus.

Internship

Along with final placements, the EDGE also provides summer internship opportunities for students. The university has made summer internships mandatory for all UG and PG students. The duration of the summer internship can be anywhere between eight weeks to six months. Career Services Department ensures that students will experience corporate culture through these summer internships.

Internships with renowned companies help students develop their career interests. Students of UPES Dehradun have interned with leading companies in sectors like Aviation, Law, Power, Logistics & Supply Chain, Business Analytics, etc. 

Scholarships

Empowering female students through Project Shakti

To encourage more female students to continue their learning journeys after class 12, UPES through its initiative ‘Shakti’ is creating a fast track for them from classroom to the boardroom - with exclusive scholarships for female students. Since 2020, UPES has offered ‘Shakti’ scholarship to more than 6000 female students from across India. Under the initiative, meritorious female students with more than 60% marks in class 12th are awarded scholarships of up to 30% in tuition fees.

Merit scholarships for male students

These scholarships are awarded on the basis of class 12th results. Meritorious students can make their hard work put in class 12 board exams count by receiving scholarships up to 30% on tuition fee.   

Domicile and Alumni scholarships

Further, to support the community in which it functions, UPES also introduced an additional domicile scholarship of 30% to students who are residents of Uttarakhand. Another interesting program spearheaded by UPES is its Alumni scholarship initiative that supports lifelong learning and is applicable to all alumni who graduated from 2018 onwards.

Sports scholarships through Project Vijaya

Just last year, the multi-disciplinary education powerhouse, launched new sports scholarships and freeships with the sole intent of creating scalable learning opportunities and career pathways for deserving individuals. Under Project Vijaya, the university allotted 50 seats for sportspeople who excel in a range of sports from cricket, football and athletics to shooting, chess and table tennis; as it aims to make sports an inclusive part of the academic curriculum. The scholarship percentile under this impressive initiative ranges from 35% to 100% depending on the number of national & international sports achievements a candidate has.

Freeships for low-income candidates under Project Jyoti

Access to quality education is a blessing for all types of learners but it can be truly transformative for candidates from the economically weaker section of society. Given that higher education comes with a significant financial investment, for students from low-income families, this is a tough choice. It can be a chance to break free from the cycle of generational poverty but if it comes with an unachievable price tag, it can instead add to the financial struggle. UPES’ freeships are built to uplift prospective students from low-income families without added clauses or strings attached. Under Project Jyoti, 50 seats are allotted with an upper age limit of 20 years for UG programs and 25 years for PG programs - and is provided on both, the tuition fee and hostel fee.

UPES also provides scholarships for MBA candidates, fellowships for M.Tech and M.Des programs, and financial support under their ‘We Care’ initiative in case a student loses any of the earning parents. The tangible impact of a scholarship is evident, and if universities can collectively provide opportunities to the nation’s talent, it will help steadily bring positive and scalable growth to the economy as a whole.
