Trichy-Tanjore Diocese has fulfilled the long felt need of the people in Dharapuram by starting an Arts and Science College in 1984. The Bishop of Trichy-Tanjore Diocese with his perseverance has been instrumental to establish the Bishop’s College of Nursing in Dharapuram vide the G.O.Ms No.1396, dt. 30-10-1991.

The Bishop’s College of Nursing is affiliated to the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai, approved by the Tamilnadu Nurses and Midwives Council, Chennai and Indian Nursing Council, New Delhi.
The B.Sc., Nursing Degree Programme is four years programme. The M. Sc., Nursing Degree Programme is two years programme. Students have to appear for examinations conducted by the Tamilnadu Dr. MGR. Medical University, Chennai every year. They are expected to have clinical experience during the whole period of study both in hospitals and in community, urban and rural field practice areas as per university and council requirements.

- The Bishop’s College of Nursing strives to provide education to the young girls to develop technical competency in nursing skills based on clinical knowledge.

Trichy Tanjore Diocese
The CSI Tiruchirappalli Thanjavur (Trichy- Tanjore) Diocese is a diocese of Church of South India in Tamil Nadu state of India. The diocese is one among the 24 dioceses of Church of South India and this diocese was one of the first 14 dioceses to be formed at the inaugural of the Church of South India in 1947.
The diocese has partnership with Leicester in The United Kingdom. Empowerment of women and Dalits are the main thrust of this diocese.
The diocese does Education Ministry, Hospital Ministry, Tribal Welfare Ministry, Mission and Evangelisation Ministry and Ministry among women. Education Ministry: The diocese has 52 primary schools, 2 high schools, 17 higher secondary schools, 2 nursing schools, 1 industrial training centre and 4 colleges (specialised in Arts & Science, Management, Nursing& Community Welfare).

- The Bishop's College of Nursing is an integral part of the health care delivery system and the education of Nurse in Degree and Diploma Programmes of the Trichy-tanjore Diocese of Church of South India and of the country of large.
B.Sc.(Nursing)
Description:
- This is a four year degree course. To prepare graduates to assume responsibilities as professional, competent nurses and midwives in providing promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative services.
M.Sc., (Nursing)
Description:
- This is two year Master degree course. To prepare graduates to assume responsibilities as professional, competent nurses and midwives in providing promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative services.

Admission Procedures:
- Candidates who seek admission for A.N.M course will have to submit an application form along with Xerox copies of certificates. Those who are called for interview will appear for the interview on the specified date.
- Candidate coming for the interview should being with them all the relevant certificates in original. Selection of the candidates is based on the marks of the entrance examination held by the institution.
Application fees & Tuition fees:
- The cost of application form for A.N.M. course is Rs.100/- (Rupees one hundred only) and Registration fee is Rs. 50/- (Rupees fifty only) paid along with the filled in Application form. Tuition fees are available in the Prospectus.
B.Sc.(Nursing)
Duration/ curriculum
- The B.Sc.,(Nursing) degree Programme is four year programme . Students have to appear for examinations conducted by the Tamil Nadu Dr.MGR. Medical University, Chennai every year. They are expected to have clinical experience during the whole period of study both in Hospitals and in community, Urban and Rural field practice areas as per University and Council requirements.
Mode of Admission:
- Selection of the candidates is based on the merit lists by D.M.E.
Admission Procedures:
- Candidates who seek admission for B.Sc., Nursing will have to submit an Application form along with xerox copies of certificates. The Non H.S.C candidates must submit the Eligibility certificate from the Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR. Medical University at the time of admission. It is the responsibility of the student to get the Eligibility certificate well in time.
- Those who are called for interview will appear for the interview on the specified date. The list of candidates selected for the programme will be notified the day after the interview.
- Selection is fully based on merit basis. Candidates coming for the interview should bring with them all the relevant certificates in original. Candidates without the original certificates will not be allowed to attend the interview.

Eligibility:-

- S.S.L.C. Passed.
- 15 years to 35 years.
- Widows are eligible .
B.Sc.,(Nursing)
- Only Female Candidates are eligible
- Age: Candidates should have completed the age of 17 years at the time of admission or would complete the said age on or before 31st December of the year of admission to the first year Nursing course.
- Candidates should have passed 10 plus 2 years of schooling. They should have passed at the qualifying examination (Academic Stream) either the Higher Secondary Examination conducted by the Tamil Nadu or an equivalent examination accepted by syndicate of the T.N.Dr.MGR.Medical University. In the qualifying examination, they should have passed in Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Botany and Zoology and English separetly, with an aggregate of45 % Marks is mandatory in Academic Stream.
- The candidates applying for management quota must appear for personal interview conducted by the institution and by the merit list send by the Tamil Nadu Private Professional Association (H.S), Chennai.
- It is the responsibility of the candidates to ascertain whether they posses the requisite qualification for admission.
- Candidates who have passed the higher secondary course examination any qualifying examination other than the Higher Secondary course examination conducted by the Government of Tamil Nadu, shall obtain an eligibility certificate from the Tamil Nadu Dr.MGR. Medical University, Chennai and migration certificate from their University.
M.Sc., (Nursing)
- Passed the qualification of B.Sc.,(Nursing) degree / Post Basic B.Sc., Nursing of the Tamil Nadu Dr.MGR. Medical University, Chennai or any other university accepted as equivalent there to , with minimum of 55% aggregate marks.
- The candidates should have undergone the full time (regular stream and not distance mode) course in B.Sc., (N)/ B.Sc.,(Hons. Nsg)/ Post Basic B.Sc.,(Nursing) in an institution which is recognized by Indian Nursing Council. (I.N.C).
- Basic Nursing graduates should have a minimum of one year experience after Basic B.Sc., and Registration in the Nursing council as on 30th April in any hospital or in a college/ School of nursing or in Community Health Programme.
- Minimum one year of experience prior or after P.C.B.Sc.,(N) regular stream.
- Must be Registered Nurses and Midwife, registered with the Tamilnadu nurses and Midwives council or any other state Nursing council.
- Male candidates should have passed any other course prescribed by INC in place of Midwifery. These candidates are not eligible for admission to Branch-III irrespective of their experience in the area.
- Candidates should be medically fit.
- All candidates who gain admission have to submit the eligibility certificate from the Tamil Nadu Dr.MGR. Medical University, Chennai at the time of final registration of admission.
